Current Knight of Kerry to speak at The Transatlantic Communications and Light Gathering:

 Monday June 3rd at 7:00 pm. St John the Baptist Church.

Sir Adrian Fitzgerald the current knight of Kerry will give a presentation which is titled “The Influence of the Knights of Kerry”    

This talk will cover the following topics:

  • An overview of the Knights of Kerry in Dingle, Listowel and Valentia
  • Examination of careers of the two Knights most associated with Valentia, Maurice 18th Knight and Peter 19th Knight
  • Pocket history of the Cable Laying Project c1856-1867.

Heritage Iveragh: The Iveragh Cables in Picture, Song, Story and Images.

 

An evening of picture, song, and story. Friday May 31st at 8pm. St. John the Baptist Church, Knightstown, Valentia Island.

 

Featuring a presentation by well known photographer Barbara Hodges of the spectacular paintings and lithographs made during the laying and landing of the transatlantic cables in the 19th century.

 

The accomplished Caherciveen singers/songwriters and musicians Celine Kavanagh and Richie Mac Carthy will preform songs about the cables which Celine has composed and recorded with Richie.

 

Mortimer Moriarty and Tom Horgan of Heritage Iveragh will provide the storyline.
